Contracting company: Straatman B.V.

Straatman B.V. contracted AutomationBuzz, led by Boban Sarvanoski, as Lead Automation Engineer to help with every stage of the project. I was involved from the initial concept and research to development, testing, and final delivery, working closely with Straatman to design and implement an automation solution for the hooks.

Type of machine: System consisting of 8 groups of quick release hooks. Additionally a bearthing aid system is present. The system consist of 2 long distance lasers that measure the distance, the speed and the angle of the ships that are being tugged to the jetty. That calculation is displayed on a big screen so that it seen from long distances. Additionally the environment is measured by environmental sensors such as wind, visibility, tide height and water current speed and direction

Purpose of the machine:  Quick release hooks for LNG terminals with additional BAS system which is used for helping the LNG tanker to moor to the jetty

Key technologies:

  • Codesys 3.5 using ST programming language.
  • Ethernet, RS485 modbus, profibus communication
  • Jmobile SCADA + HMI development
  • Git and Bitbucket to keep and maintain a proper code versioning control
